Quote Analysis

“You must be the change you wish to see in the world.” -Mahatma Gandhi
We all know the world isn’t a perfect place and there are horrible, depressing things that need improving on. The truth is that most of don’t even try to help or do something about it. We all feel very terrible and guilty when we see those TV ads or posters with starving, sobbing children living in poverty. For those 3 or 4 seconds, some of us are inspired to help. After they walk away, they realize that is impossible to do anything about, they think, ‘I can’t do anything, I’m just a regular person, someone else can do it.’ They walk away knowing that terrible things are happening in the world and they are not doing anything to help it. If every single person thinks in this way, these issues will just grow and grow. I think this is what Gandhi is talking about. If you want the world to be a better place, you need ‘be the change.’
